Descriptions

We use a combination of modalities to meet your specific needs.  Once you have been assessed, some or all of these modalities will be incorporated into your session.

SWEDISH - Swedish Massage is the most common and best known form of massage.  It uses firm yet gentle pressure to improve circulation, and flexibility.  This technique was developed by a Swedish physiologist, Henri Peter Ling.  Techniques including long gliding strokes, kneading, friction, tapping, and shaking motions -  are used to promote better health and well - being.

DEEP TISSUE - Deep Tissue Massage uses deep muscle compression and friction along the grain of the muscle.  The purpose is to release the fibers of the muscles that have bound together and to encourage release of both toxins and tension.  Deep tissue massage uses many of the same movements and techniques as Swedish Massage, but the pressure will generally be more intense.  Deep Tissue is more focused on releasing chronic muscle tension.  Pressure can vary, but the therapist will encourage you to advise if the pressure is too uncomfortable.  While Deep Tissue is very valuable, it works exceptionally well when incorporated with other gentle styles of massage.

MYOFASCIAL -  This is a form of soft tissue massage which consists of stretching and massaging the connective tissue.  The therapist identifies areas of tension and stress, and aims to free up muscles allowing better mobility and flexibility. Clients with back pain - muscle associated issues; scar tissue; fibromyalgia, etc. - can greatly benefit from this technique.

STONE THERAPY - Heated stones are positioned on the body to create a deeper sense of relaxation.  Circulation is increased and tissues are softened.  Stone therapy is very soothing and calming; allowing maximum benefit from the massage session.
